| The
Missouri Accelerated Schools Project is a major school improvement effort
based on the work of Dr. Henry (Hank) Levin of Stanford University. The
purpose of the project is to transform schools into accelerated units
where all children achieve at high levels of academic learning. accelerated
Schools commit themselves to a philosophy and a process of change. In
carrying out the philosophy and five step process, members of the Accelerated
Schools community-the principal, teachers, other staff, parents, students,
district office personnel, and local community members-work together and
make changes in curriculum, instruction, and school organization to ensure
that every child is successful and has the opportunity to become a productive,
creative member of society.
