The American Psychological Society
The APS is a professional organization of academic psychologists.
The American Psychological Association
The "oldest" organization of professional psychologists. The APA has 49 divisions that range from general psychology to clinical psychology to sports psychology to gay/lesbian issues. You can access the APA MONITOR, the official newspaper of the association, access links to a variety of psychology resources, locate important research in the APA Journals, and get information about jobs/internships/fellowships. They even have a special page devoted to issues important to Undergraduate Students!!
The Society for Psychophysiological Research (SPR)
The members of this organization are interested in what the body can tell us about behavior, information processing, and psychopathology. These researchers relate brain activity (measured via EEG, PET, MRI, CAT), eye movements, blinks, head movements, heart rate, blood pressure, muscle movement/tension, etc. to psychological events.
The American Sociological Association
A professional association that promotes research, publication and teaching in Sociology in the United States.
