Text Box: Miss Missouri Alumni Organization History
Over the years many people were requesting that a group be started to reconnect old friendships and ties associated to the program. It was finally done in 2003. Its basic premise is as follows:
1.Yearly updated directory of information of all participating former contestants at the local and state level within Missouri.
2. Annual newsletter to keep up to date on the lives of our friends in the program past and present.
3. Bi-Annual reception at the state pageant held in Mexico, Missouri.
4. Dues collected to be applied to a scholarship that will be determined by the MMAO.
5. Web page for members to connect
Yearly salute page in the Miss Missouri program book to honor all members.
Three levels of membership:
a. General membership for all former contestants.
b. Junior membership for currently competing or eligible contestants.
c. Associate membership for volunteers or directors (adds them to the mailing list)
Founding member Jennifer Hover White wrote in the first ever MMAO newsletter:
"This is an exciting time for all of us who are anxious to find old friends and for those who were looking for a way to give back to a program that has done so much for our lives. On a personal note, if it were not for my involvement in the Miss Missouri program I would not have been as successful in my career endeavors. My first year competing I was shy, scared, and insecure. By the time I was finished competing (several years later!) I was confident, articulate, educated and had friendships that I knew would last a lifetime. I encourage all of you to consider joining this organization. You will be helping to improve the life of the program and the women involved."
Respectfully yours,
Jennifer Hover White
