About Us
Beta Chapter is made up of business education students from the midwest, primarily Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas. Pi Omega Pi is an honor society for business education majors, which includes Secondary and Middle School Business majors.
Active membership includes those undergraduates and graduates who are enrolled as bona fide students in a college or university having a chapter of the society and who have met the following requirements:
Each candidate has expressed an intention of becoming a teacher of business subjects. Each candidate possesses the following qualifications:
| Completion of at least three semesters or five quarters of college courses including at least 15 semester hours or 22 quarter hours in business and education subjects. | |
| Attainment of general scholarship sufficient to place the candidate within the upper 35 percent of his/her college class (sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate) and the achievement of an average grade of "B" or higher, or its equivalent in other grading systems, in all courses in business and education. |
The organization is made of business education students, so it is logical that the organization would produce instructional materials. In the past the organization has composed a Technology Tools CD that was distributed to all other chapters. The technologies on this CD were examples of how the technology could be used in the classroom and included tutorials, instructions, examples, and a brief overview of the technology. Technologies included on the CD were Captivate, Producer, Impatica, and Movie Maker.
Helping Area Schools-FBLA Contest
Members contribute to the event planning prior to, during, and after the contests. Members help find judges, judge performance events, grade skills events, and prepare certificates. Area teachers appreciate the great job Beta Chapter members do for FBLA Contest.
Pi Omega Pi has biennial national conferences in conjunction with the National Business Education Association. This is a fun and exciting opportunity for members to meet influential business educators, network, give presentations, and get to know their fellow members. These conferences are held in major cities. Some of the past conferences have been Dallas, TX; Chicago, IL; Anaheim, CA; and New York, NY.
