Recreation Programs  @ HPERD

The Recreation major and Northwest Missouri has three areas of specialization – Recreation and Park Management, Therapeutic Recreation and Corporate Recreation/Wellness.  These areas involve working with people and providing a means toward developing healthy communities and personal lifestyles.

Recreation and Park Management

The Recreation and Park Management degree program prepares the individual to work in local, state or national parks, and/or work in public or private recreation agencies.  Recreation management, parks management, programming and leadership are primary focuses of this major.

Therapeutic Recreation

The Therapeutic Recreation degree program prepares students for a career working with individuals with disabilities or other potentially limiting conditions.  Professionals working in this field work to improve the functional abilities and the quality of life for those they serve through the assessment, prescription and delivery of specialized activities, exercises and experiences.

Corporate Recreation/Wellness

The Corporate Recreation/Wellness degree program is an area that has experienced rapid growth during the past decade.  This program prepares students for careers in directing employee, commercial and community based health and wellness programs.
