HPERD

The HPERD department is comprised of more than 300 student majors and almost 100 student minors, as well as more than 40 full-time faculty, coaches and staff, plus numerous part-time specialty instructors, each of whom are interested in the betterment of the human race and the world we live in. Eleven different curricular areas are available for study, which translates into hundreds of courses offered every trimester.

Opportunities are provided for professional preparation, in accordance with accrediting agency requirements, of highly qualified teachers and leaders in recreation and athletics. These programs prepare professionals to facilitate lifelong learning in a world of change; to confront the challenges of tomorrow; and to exhibit leadership skills in order to make decisions that will encourage the acquisition of health and other behaviors leading to an active, productive and healthy lifestyle.
