Mr. Joseph Suchan
Fourth Level Teacher

In the fourth grade classroom, we focus heavily on Missouri history and citizenship. Missouri's Grade Level Expectations are used to continually develop an integrated curriculum that allows students to be effective problem solvers. Along with a balanced literacy program, oral and written communications are key components of the curriculum. Students are introduced to a wide variety of exciting literature that fosters a desire to learn. Additionally, Horace Mann fourth graders utilize the latest technologies such as handheld computers, desktop computers and SmartBoards. These learning tools are integrated into all subjects areas to help motivate and educate students.
The theme of citizenship ties directly to our building wide Character Education program. Students model good character as they take part in community programs such as Conservation Day, Missouri Day, Earthworks and DARE. Fourth graders provide a special production for the community in the form of an annual readers theater.
